Welcome to BassScores Editions, a revered establishment founded by the distinguished double bassist and educator, Professor Michael Cameron. Despite his passing on July 13, 2022, Professor Cameron's profound musical legacy and steadfast dedication endure, continually inspiring others. His vision is now upheld by his first DMA student, Dr. Marcos Machado, who leads the charge at BassScores Editions.

 

Established in 2008 by Professor Cameron, the company was born out of a desire to enrich the double bass repertoire with new transcriptions, compositions, and method/etude editions. His passion and dedication were the pillars of this ambitious project.

With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and the decline in his health, Professor Cameron entrusted his beloved company to Guilherme Zils, then his student and a former pupil of Dr. Machado. Recognizing Dr. Machado's extensive knowledge and commitment to the double bass, Zils proposed that he should steer and develop BassScores Editions. This decision comforted Professor Cameron, knowing that his legacy would be in capable and respected hands.

Dr. Machado, committed to honoring this legacy, launched the "Michael Cameron" Double Bass Competition on the Gulf Coast in November 2022, just three months after Professor Cameron's passing. This tribute respectfully honored a life devoted to the instrument. The competition's second edition in 2023, graced by the presence of Thomas Martin, further cemented its success, and plans are already underway for the third edition in 2024.
