ABOUT US
Welcome to BassScores Editions, established by the renowned double bassist and educator, Professor Michael Cameron. Although he passed away on July 13, 2022, his enduring dedication and profound impact on music continue to inspire. His legacy is now carried forward by his first DMA student, Dr. Marcos Machado, who currently leads BassScores Editions.
Founded in 2008, BassScores was driven by Professor Cameron’s desire to enhance the double bass repertoire with fresh transcriptions, compositions, and method/etude editions. His enthusiasm and commitment laid the foundation for this ambitious endeavor.
As his health declined during the COVID-19 pandemic, Professor Cameron entrusted his cherished company to Guilherme Zils, his then-student and former pupil of Dr. Machado. Acknowledging Dr. Machado’s deep expertise and dedication to the double bass, Zils suggested he take the helm of BassScores Editions. This transition reassured Professor Cameron that his legacy would be preserved by capable and trusted hands.
In honor of this legacy, Dr. Machado initiated the "Michael Cameron" Double Bass Competition on the Gulf Coast in November 2022, three months after Professor Cameron's death. This competition, which held its second edition in 2023 with guest Thomas Martin, has been a success, with plans already in place for the next edition in 2024. Part of the proceeds from the sale of BassScores publications is dedicated to funding this competition, helping to sustain and celebrate Professor Cameron’s legacy into the future.
At BassScores Editions, we are proud to continue championing Professor Cameron’s legacy. We invite you to explore our catalog and join us on a journey of musical excellence and innovation.
